There’s something fun about test driving a golf car that’s built not only for the fairway, but for wherever your lifestyle takes you. That’s exactly what we set out to do when we test drove the Club Car Onward.
Whether you’re cruising around the community, heading to the golf course or zipping down to the park with your furry friend or kids in tow, this golf car is designed to deliver more than just a smooth ride.
First impressions
Straight up, the Club Car Onward impresses with its sleek alloy wheels, bold metallic paint, premium seats and classy dash. The Onward’s design is compact but confident, with a solid stance that’s more “mini SUV” than traditional golf car.
With configurations available in 2, 4, or 6 passenger and either electric or petrol options, the Onward is tailored to lifestyle use. Fool me not, this golf car isn’t only about looks. The attention to detail that Club Car is famous for, built over its 65-year history, is evident in the build quality, from the rust-proof aluminium frame to the LED headlights and ergonomic steering wheel.
On the road (and Off)
Take it for a spin and you’ll be surprised by how smooth and stable it feels. The electric model we tested featured a quiet, smooth acceleration and confident handling. Club Car’s proprietary SportDrive™ steering system makes turning effortless, and the independent front suspension smooths out bumps and uneven terrain, giving it a comfortable, refined ride.
Cruising at 40km/h felt effortless, and the car hugged corners with minimal body roll, something not often said about vehicles in this category. Whether you’re navigating a retirement community, resort grounds, or coastal footpaths, the Onward feels sure-footed and secure.
Comfort and features
Our model included Club Car’s premium seat upgrade, which features contoured cushioning and high-back support which makes for a comfortable ride. There’s plenty of legroom in both the front and rear, and cup holders, USB ports, and plenty of cleverly integrated storage compartments.
There is an array of optional add-ons available, such as Bluetooth sound systems, rear-facing seats, and cargo storage. You can even customise the roof canopy, body colours, and trim to suit your personal taste.
Safety and utility
It’s also reassuring to know that safety hasn’t been sacrificed for style. The Onward comes with standard LED headlights, brake lights, and turn signals, along with an automotive-style horn and seatbelts. The vehicle’s stability and braking systems are responsive, even when fully loaded.
Need to carry gear or groceries? The rear fold-down seat can convert into a flatbed-style cargo space in seconds, adding a layer of practicality that’s hard to beat.
The verdict
The Club Car Onward redefines what a golf car can be. It’s not just a way to get from the first tee to the clubhouse, but a refined, customisable, road-ready machine built for how you live. If you’re a retiree looking for comfortable community transport, a resort manager wanting a stylish guest shuttle, or just someone who values quality, performance, and a little fun, the Onward delivers.
If you’re in the market for a premium personal transport solution, take the Club Car Onward for a spin you might just forget it’s technically a golf car.
